My JavaScript clocks — Moje JavaScriptov‚ hodiny
Your local time -: :- V ¨ m¡stn¡ ‡as

Winnipeg time -: :- Winnipegsk˜ ‡as

These clocks actually advance the time EXACTLY every second! It is achieved by setting the delay for the recursive calls to the JavaScript clock code to something less than 1000 miliseconds. The code calculates the correct value of the delay (which depends on the platform and the complexity of your code) automatically by means of a simple feedback mechanism. If one uses the delay of 1000 miliseconds as suggested e.g. in the JavaScript Guide, the interval between the consecutive clock updates is larger than 1 second, and the clock has to jump by two units now and then to make up for the delay. Also automatically switch betweeen the standard and the daylight saving time - see below.

Is my Winnipeg clock wrong? Ukazuj¡ moje winnipegsk‚ hodiny ¨patn˜ ‡as?
Because Javascript is running on your computer, both times are derived from your computer clock. The Winnipeg time displayed above depends on the correct setting of your local time zone (TZ) on your computer and on the Javascript getTimezoneOffset() method. It seems that MS IE version 3 is returning TZ offset with the opposite sign! Netscape 3+ and MS IE 4+ are giving the correct TZ offset. All this is taken into account in my code. But I have no idea about other browsers.

Here in Winnipeg we are 6 hours west of Greenwich, i.e., we are 5 hours behind GMT in the summer and 6 in the winter. If the Winnipeg time shown above is wrong and your TZ setting is correct, would you please click here and mail me the contents of the page that appears?

Since 2007, in most of Canada and USA the daylight saving/standard time switchover occurs on the 2nd Sunday of March at 2 am ST and on the 1st Sunday of November at 1 am ST (2 am DT), which differs from Central Europe. When switchover occurs since you opened/reloaded this page last time, you will have to reload the page for it to take effect. The time may still be wrong one hour around switchover.
